Nobody, who has a Wii U game in mind, is going to not buy a Wii U because it is region locked. It just doesn't add up. Wii has region lock, beat out all their competition. 3DS has region lock, beating Vita to a pulp, Wii U might not be that juggernaut that the Wii was but it will find its audience. And anybody who wants it for what it is will buy it. |
If they were perfect about localizing things on their platform, sure. But obviously they aren't so I find it perfectly reasonable to want them to change a policy that every other console manufacturer has abandoned. 25 years ago things were a lot different, if they didn't change at all in that time frame they'd be in some real trouble.
I think you're right, there will be no noteable sales effect, but since when has that been a prerequisite for me to want them to change something? It makes it less likely that they'll actually change it, but it doesn't make the policy any less shitty.
Also according to the post above this isn't some long held belief of Nintendo's that region locking is great, they've taken it out of platforms before. So obviously they can make the change, and have made it before, so why shouldn't I complain that they reverted back?
