Nintendo owns W101? Cool, didn't know that.

Third parties are failing to step up to the plate, its true, and that's why Nintendo should step in to help, not just for the sake of third party game sales, but to help their console's image by showing they're not lacking in non-Nintendo games. The Directs seem to reach a lot of Wii U owners, surely at least some would be more likely to get Batman, Rayman, or Watch Dogs if a Nintendo Direct pitched it to them. It would be like their beloved company giving these games a "seal of approval."

What is Nintendo supposed to do, if third parties aren't really interested in producing trailers and gameplay footage that shows off Wii U exclusive features for their multiplatform games? The problem doesn't lie on Nintendo's end, because Iwata announced in the January Direct that there will be a future Direct that focuses on third party content for the Wii U. A good five months later it still hasn't happened. And if Nintendo wants to show off third party content in their Directs, they basically have to use 360/PS3 footage, because there's no Wii U footage available.

They've been willing to use PS3/360/X1 footage for third party games before, like at E3 2012 and the recent E3 Direct.
