Customer service also depends a lot on the customer as well.
People who call who are irritated or angry or just otherwise unpleasant not only make the customer service person's day less pleasant but also fail to motivate the customer service person to even care.
When I call a customer service place, I try to be cheerful and upbeat because it makes their day just a little better to not hear people complaining or whining. One customer service person I talked to on the phone told me I was the most pleasant caller he'd talked with all week. ^_^
I can honestly say I've yet to have a bad experience with customer service over the phone. In person is another story... why is it no one ever seems to believe that the customer might actually be really smart? :S
