For a western IP it is an amazing achievement.    If TLoU was created instead by Sony Japan or Capcom, it would have sold 500K-1M 1st week.

If a western game sells bad, japan is racist. If a western game sells well, japan is racist because it doesn't outsell RE. One of the biggest IP in Japan.

Tales of, Yakuza, Dynasty Warriors, etc etc etc... don't sell well in the western countries, but there we're super open minded.

And this is how it works.

Racist is not the term.  The proper term in this case would be xenophobic.

EDIT: Also MGS sells amazing in Japan and western regions.  Dark Souls sell great in japan, and in western regions.   It really depends on the genre and the themes of the game.  TLoU genre and main theme are mainstream in japan; so the fact that the game does not sell well is a representation of gaming xenophobia.
