The one thing I disagree on is when you say going back to thumbsticks is a regression and that developers are lazy for not thinking outside the "dual stick" box so to speak.  Most gamers and developers view the dual analog stick, four face button, and two sets of shoulder buttons / triggers as the industry standard for controller, much the same way the "QWERTY" keyboard is the standard for computers.

Once upon a time, Cassettes and VHS tapes were industry standard too. :P

If people don't want to play with motion controls, there are 2 other systems they can choose to play. Besides, the Wii did have a GamePro or whatever the traditional controller was called.  I do agree that some games didnt benefit from the Wii remote, and that's fine. But Nintendo is getting hurt now by having people be foruced to use the gamepad where it isn't all that useful. My example of ZombiU works well here. Instead of being able to aim where I want, I can now click through my invoentory on my gamepad. This doesn't help me much at all. Even games like Skyward Sword were pretty awesome with the Wii controls, so it all depends on how much time devs take to really utilize the system.
