it's only simple logic that people buy games for the platform they own. if each console has it's base then each will get a chunk of multiplats sales.

But if that were true, why did the sales of multiplats decrease over the course of the Wii's lifetime?

because wii barely had any multiplatform titles. and when it had it was too unoptmized and half assed to even be worthy. when third's give a damn the games easily sell their 500k - 1M units like the RE umbrella nd darkside chronicles. The fact remains that multis will sell respectably on nintendo platforms given the product is good (released simultaneosly with others, decent port,...).

and we already know wii u can handle Ps4/Xone ports with irrelevant graphical difference.
