Maybe their strategy of "refocusing on the core" is to snag up sequels and niche games that no one else want to fund.
Like more partnerships with Sega for their "dead" franchises. (Nintendo seems to have a knack for bringing back IPs from the dead)
Imagine the day when Shenmue 3 or Valkyria Chronicles 4 is Nintendo exclusive. The salt will be premium grade. Cured over years of waiting.
