It actually sounds like Sony is very prepared for this generation. Jack says in this interview "We are going to sell more PlayStation 4's during the holiday season, than any of our previous generations."

I think Sony has this whole launch planned out very well. They have tons of exclusive games still to announce, and we will here about them at gamescom, TGS, and the VGA's. I think there is a very good chance that Sony is going launch during October with about 2.5 - 3 Million consoles ready. They could sell 5 - 6 Million units by the end of the year.
