What really shocked me is that Dead Rising 3 will likely stay exclusive. It's being published by Microsoft, and that kinda seals the deal. Might come out on PC, but like Mass Effect 1, I don't think we'll see it on PS4.

I hope it does. Consoles need a value compared to competition. Sony secures games, MS does this, too. Nothing wrong with it.

Yea, true, and Microsoft needs a game like this to be relevant in Japan. Still, Capcom could very make a multiplatform Dead Rising 4, and.....well this series will be all over the place. 360/Wii for 1, 360/PS3 for 2, One/PC? for 3, etc.

Of course they can. I think decisions for a second wave of AAA-games by 3rd-party will depend on the success of the next-gen-consoles. And of course any 3rd-party-exclusive deal means nothing in the future. Look what Square did - once Nintendo (those were the good times), than Sony (started good, then...), then multi-plat (iOS, Android, Sony, MS) and it did no good for them and us. But I think that's the most extreme example.

Square had a good reason to move between those 3 brands. I mean Squaresoft did originally try to make FFVII for N64, but when they had troubles and Nintendo just said "deal with it" they did. FF going multiplatform is a smart financial move too because Sony didn't really help with publishing costs that much when FF was exclusive. FFXIII sold better then FFXII because it was MP, you can't blame the shrinking of FF sales on SE going MP.

FF selling less and less is happening for multiple reasons. 1st, Japanese gamers are switching to handheld consoles (DQ IX outsold DQVII), 2nd Japanese studios follow seniority, so tired old hags are still designing games, when bring up and comers are being ignored, and 3rd the FF series has in general gotten worse, and is running out of original idea's.

Anyway, with Dead Rising, there is a good chance that it will switch status within a console gen, and I just don't like that. I know studios can do this, but it's a bit of a slap towards gamers. Sometimes, I get it, like in the case of Mass Effect where EA bought the rights to produce the game, but for this...Oh well, I still haven't beaten Dead Rising 1 or even played 2 LOL.
