This is literally the exact reaction I was expecting. What happens when you announce every title you're going to debut at the show...before the show? Okay, we didn't know some of the exact titles, and the DK game was under-wraps, but in the end, everyone knew what was coming.

And because they were announced ahead of time, people had time to form preconceptions. Which is why so many were disappointed when they saw what Retro was working on, and realized it wasn't what they hoped. Which is why so many were disappointed by the new Mario game.

Then there's Smash, which just had to show up to be well received. And which I could no longer take seriously when not one, but two nameless avatars were showcased. I'm sorry, somehow I thought this was a game to show off beloved Nintendo characters. Even the Pokemon Trainer used well-known characters in battle, despite being a nameless avatar himself. Megaman stole the show, and it's rather telling when the biggest announcement of their show was the reveal of a someone else's character.
