Are Nintendo's announced Wii U games a step up from the Wii's iterations?

Nothing looked a step up except Project X. They're passable sequels to what worked before but I don't see this reversing Wii U's fortunes. Especially not with only the weakest game, 3D Mario, out before Christmas.
