I fell for it too.  I was like what system are they talking about (has to be Sony since mainland Europe)...  So there is less population in Germany and PS3 is now overtracked.  VGC must use attachment rates for each German.  VGC - 35% of Germans own a PS3 so population being 1.5m overtracked = less PS3 actually sold.

Actually there is some truth to that.
Previous GfK estimate was that 35% of Germans are regular gamers (from age 10), so there are ~500k less gamers in Germany than previously thought.
