I think that Diddy Kong Racing knocked Mario Kart 64's socks off.

 

Flying, Hoverboat, and cart racing. Exploration. Great control, great multiplayer, etc. So much to do as well.

Diddy kong racing was the best game on n64

I agree with spurgeon, and it IS one of the best games in the console. The single player in DKR is superior to MK's in every possible way. And what a soundtrack!
