Yes Guild Wars has free servers.

A) It is not a typical MMO...you only fight with what...7 friends max? 11? I forget. Anyway, the strain is much less on servers than with full MMOs where it is possible to run into dozens of other players on the go. Guild Wars only has cities with tons of players, and even then its split into regions to reduce server strain.

B) There are multiple expansions and they are EXPENSIVE. WoW has had, what, one expansion pack, and it was like $20 right? It's cheap because they already get their money from monthly fees.

Any normal MMO has to charge a monthly fee or charge for expansions. You cannot have both for free, that makes no sense. Since this is true, Nintendo needs a way for third parties to charge for these fees, and this is how.

I feel like some people might think I'm defending Nintendo blindly like a fanboy, but everything here makes sense...as long as they don't slap on the Pay to Play logo on the wrong games.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
