If you look at unique users, this happened last year. 
Of the first 16 million 360's sold, there was a 50% fail rate. Compare that to PS3's 15%, that means there are at least 6.8 million more broken 360's then PS3s out there. Sure, not all are replaced, and smart people like me got a 3rd party extended warrenty, but still.
