Sony showed us gameplay and some pretty trailers for games.
Microsoft showed us some pretty trailers and no gameplay.
Sony had developers on stage, talking about the console and what it can do.
Microsoft had Spielberg, on video, talking about Halo and TV.
Sony never said anything anti-consumer.
Microsoft said a lot of anti-consumer stuff.
Microsoft confirmed a lot of stuff the general community didnt want. What people were "afraid" of. The system has to be connected to the Internet. The system has to have Kinect in at all times. The system is shitting on people who rely on the used games market. The system is shitting on people who lend games to friends/family.
In short, Sony put out a conference to get the core gaming audience on board. Microsoft put out a conference to get non-gamers on board. After the Sony conference
This is why the forums (and Internet in general) are so against the Xbox One. "Amazing" is sucking Sony's dick a bit too much when talking about the PS4 conference. The conference lost a lot of points for not actually showing off the console or a "big" game, but it was at least good for gamers in general.
A lot of the negativity regarding Xbox One has actually come from things said after the conference. If they left it as it was and didnt tell us anything extra until E3 - The Xbox One conference wouldnt have been that bad.
