While Microsoft has made major innovation in the terms of online gaming, 1they also are completely responsible for the presence of "hardcore" gamers that play games more based on source material than gameplay. This is the reason I prefer Nintendo and Sony over Microsoft. 2They also charge for online service among other things. This is a main reason Nintendo and Sony aren't doing as well as they could in America. 3Some ignorant western gamers that don't want to play Mario or LBP because it's viewed as "kiddy". It's a sad day in gaming. But they're more important things happening in the world right now; Third parties are killing the Wii U, African kids are staving, and not to mention Asians and their never ending pursuit to not look Asian. Yep, all the World's ills, sitting on chrome 24-inch worlds. |
1- Microsoft created an intriguing world with Halo that no other developer or publisher ever was capable of doing from scratch. Sony or Nintendo didn't create anything that can market across media forms like Halo, which is full of substance and unique gameplay.
2- If Nintendo and Sony cannot pass MS's subscription based online community by offering free service something is wrong on the yellow brick road and it's not MS's fault. Please click your heels.
3- Mario sells a lot in US although it shows its face almost every year (CODesque like) on variety of Nintendo titles. LBP is Sony's fault for not knowing how to market and for copying Mario Kart in one of the spinoffs. Talking about copying Sony is good at it and the only thing they do to distance themselves from the crowd is investing on movies with QTE's.And Mario is kiddy. Is the whole saving the princess thing still excite you? I mean I play it but you won't see me buying it at full price. The gamers in the west have matured au contraire to what's going on in Japan.
