Mediocre is not the right word here if it simply isn't a game that fits your tastes.  It's a word that describes quality, not preference.

Mediocre isn't a word you use to describe a game that wasn't to your fitting.  You use mediocre for a game that fits the kinds of games you like and did not meet your expectations.  

If you hate playing FPS games, you don't go and pick one up randomly and say "because I hate FPS', this game is mediocre."  If you like FPS' and you found the one you picked up wasn't as good as the ones you usually play, it would fit.
