If anything this only enforces the idea that they are going to go always online this gen.
Both Sony and Microsoft said it's "up to the publisher" they're getting rid of online passes because they have no need for it now that they can lock them and employ microtransactions. (You need to be online to employ DLC anyways)
Possibly EA was trying to implement the same thing using Origin on WiiU, but Nintendo said no at the last moment.
I also have no doubt that EA is actively trying to kill Nintendo now. Mangggg~~~~~~ Too juicy. I still don't hate them but yeah this is pretty bad. Ah well.
(And for those of ya'll wanting Nintendo to go 3rd party SHUT UP you know what'll happen? SEGA 2.0. No way in hell that's good)
