They are also causing them to have no monetization on the videos. That is a major problem for many youtubers who do need the money to help stay afloat. some youtubers have youtube as their only job. The long term problem is that these LPers will just refuse to play Nintendo games on their channel.
So far, the games that have been content IDed include New Super Mario Bros. 2, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Ocarina of Time, Legend of Zelda Windwaker and mario Kart 7. All these titles have released in the last couple years or are soon to and are prominent titles.

Let's be honest, though. Using LP's as your main form of monetization is pretty sad and lazy. Also, one of the earlier posts seem to indicate that they aren't really taking the revenue from the ads, but just putting their own there. More info is needed, though.

Taking Revenue from Ads...putting their own....its the same thing o.O. Partner and uploader get nothing - all proceeds go to Nintendo which is what a lot people are angry about.

This could be something that I could take advantage of...too bad I cant record 3DS games or a Wii-U games.

One thing I'm not sure about though. Youtube didn't always have monetizing right, now it seems like a lot of people are trying to be a youtube celebrity?
Even though there are people that do it for revenue will quit. I'm sure there will still be plenty of people that do it for fun which is what I'd think nintendo would consider. If I remember that's what youtube originally was.
I think it's a grey area. I understand both sides, I do think it would have been nice for nintendo to notify the users though so they could adjust their channels if they were relying on the revenue from it. But, that likely wouldn't have made the controversy any less.
