It sure did. When WoW was released back in 2004 it totally slaughtered Dark Age of Camelot because a huge portion of the player base decided to try WoW and got addicted. The population of DAOC servers went down drastically very fast and it was during this time I myself decided to leave the game after having played full-time for almost two years.
