He didn't say that the graphics wouldn't be better than Wii U graphics. Just that the difference in IQ isn't going to be huge. Think of the difference between PC Medium settings and High or Very High settings. There isn't going to be that much difference. Just having Wii U games in 720p as opposed to 1080p is going to need half the processing power to reproduce.

And good luck with expecting a game with thousands of online players, unless the game features bots you're going to struggle to find the players needed to play the game later on down the road, plus it'll be a nightmare to test properly.

Wow your almost as stubborn as me! :) But dude... if going to 1080p takes twice as much processing power, and most people won't even notice it, then what makes you think all ps4/ Xbox720 games will be in 1080p? The difference between pc and consoles is that nobody tries to make games that push a GTX680 to it's limits. The games are designed to give the same experience on a $80 as on a $1000 Titan gpu. All that a expensive gpu adds is some eyecandy that has no real function to the game and only enthusiast will really notice, unless they run a lot of mods. However, with the ps4/ Nextbox developers will try to push these new consoles to the max and get the best visuals on screen as possible (could very well be 30fps at 720p if that looks better). Personally I think the added resolution really makes a difference but developers can also choose to go 720p and have twice the processing power available to do other crazy things.

The point is that the Wii U is already maxed out at 720p and developers need to work around the hardware weaknesses to do ports of current gen games. That's why the Wii U isn't really considered a next gen console, at least not by developers. Maybe you have a better insight, but right now I'd rather believe developers who actually worked on the thing.

Insomniac CEO Ted Price has commented on next-gen consoles but says he considers Wii U “current gen.” In an Ask Me Anything post on Reddit, Price was asked for his thoughts on “next gen consoles” including “the new one from MS, PS4 and WII-U.”

I can tell you never played on pc because massive online games are pretty standard there. Think of games like WOW, or Planet side 2 where you have thousands of people playing together in a seamless giant map. There is a reason why we aren't seeing that in current console games and why BF3 has only 24 player maps as opposed to 64 on the pc. With the focus on social gaming and sharing, these are the type of games that will really shine on next gen hardware. Some will probably be free to play and have microtransactions to buy upgrades and stuff. Planetside seems to do it right and is really active right now, so it makes sense that we will see that game (or maybe a Planetside3) make it's way to the ps4 as well. Also, Bungie's new game might very well be the next gen version of MW.
