PS4 will be around twice as powerful as the XBox 720. PS4 will be 3 or 4 times more powerful than the Wii U. 8th generation repeating the 7th generation in terms of specifications but PS4 should be able to blow the XBox 720 and Wii U out of the water in regards to consoles sales.

It's actually a great deal closer to be repeating the 6th gen in terms of power with the Wii U being the PS2 equivalent, the 720 being the GameCube equivalent and the PS4 being the Xbox equivalent. The difference between the Wii U and the PS4 is a little larger but the difference between the 720 and PS4 is about right. And yes, the most important part of the Wii U - the GPU - is a complete mystery. The metal has been customised so much that the GPU line that it's based on is completely unrecognisable. We really don't have much of a clue. All we know for certain is that it's designed specifically to be a 720p machine, it has compute functionality, it has a DX11 equivalent feature set and that it has crazy texture compression. And that's it. There's around a third of the silicone that's completely unrecognisable.

the only difference is that all 3 will achieve a graphical level so big that the difference in power won't translate in much of a difference in visuals

Lol you honestly believe we reached the highest level in graphics and things can't get any better? The biggest difference between next gen and this one will be the sense of scale, more seamless gameplay and massive online gaming. Sure the new consoles will also boost new cool looking rendering effects, like those particle effects we seen in the UET4 demo, realtime GI and a 1080p resolution, but that will the major difference and it requires lots of ram. You can already see that with games like MGS5, Watch Dogs, Assasins Creed 4, Desitiny. My guess is that none of those games will turn out great on current gen consoles, including the Wii U.

Those are just launch titles though, but when graphics get even better and we got games with thousands of players online, then there is just no way in hell it would run on the Wii U without setting your house on fire. Hell, Planetside 2 already requires 8gigs of ram and that isn't even a great looking game. You can't really expect developers to scale down the whole gameplay experience/ leveldesign just because the Wii U has 1 gig of very slow ram. If so, then I just really hope you're wrong because I'd like to see those type of games. Just check out the video to see why developers are so excited about the ps4: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/09/assassins-creed-4-on-ps4-conversations-with-creators/
