It didn't look like she was leaving the battlefield, she actually died (and her dead quote sounded as such). Could be wrong though, since I was expecting a game over screen and it didn't came out, the mission continued as normal.

Edit: nvm she retreats from the battle. Her "dead" sentence sounded like she was dead, but she just says that she can't fight anymore and "Father forgive me". That's probably why I thought she was dead.

In some Fire Emblem games, characters like Lucina that are semi-important for the storyline only retreat from the battlefied with severe wounds instead of dying outright. A simple adjustment by the developers to leave the cutscenes the same while still penalizing the player for a mistake. I think such characters even get an adjusted epilogue instead of the classic "Character died in chapter X" note.

In Radiant Dawn at least the epilogue says: "Character retreats at Chapter X". I remember Sothe retreating in one of last chapters in my first playthrough and I got that message. The same thing happened with Rafiel.

I thought it said "Severely Wounded", but the outcome is the same.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
