I think Nintendo's most important E3's were when they were presenting the DS and the Wii. They were in a tighter situation than they are today. Also, E3 was a FAR more effective and important show back then. Nowadays, their Nintendo Directs are being taken as seriously as their E3 shows by Nintendo fans, gaming press, and mainstream press. Back before the launch of the Wii, only TGS, Spaceworld, and E3 were taken seriously for announcement platforms. This E3 is not their most important simply because E3 is no longer nearly as important overall.

So saying this E3 is the most important is both ignoring history and ignoring the landscape of the gaming industry today.
