Alarming indeed. All I have to say is amen, Adam.

Nintendo is sticking their head in the sand and allowing Sony and Microsoft to walk all over them. They've gone to their special place to hide in their shell. This is not the Nintendo of old that wanted to be seen. If you ask me, it looks like they've given in for the year to look up at giants.

So I have a few questions.

Are you assuming or claiming that this E3 Nintendo will have no big announcements?

Never said that. I am saying E3 will create a larger platform for the greater audience to see. People might write about nintendo, but not everyone will ist their whole bunch of games. They'll make a few quotes and link you to the Nintendo Direct and call it a day. Most of those fans being Nintendos faithful whom are are a niche crowd. The same people who bought the Wii U on faith when there are still barely any games. We need to see what Nintendo has on the larger stage, we want to see the press reaction, the ooohs and awwwws and applause to know that there is some general reaction to offerings made.

Are you claiming that Sony and Microsoft truly shadow Nintendo? Is this home console or handheld or the combination?

The media hasn't seen what the PS4 looks like nor the 720, just details of the PS4's power and some games from their unveiling. Nintendo already had their moment with the media and it never had as much buzz as what the PS4 is currently getting. The news where I live is already buzzing about Microsofts new console and is already talking about some competition between Microsoft and amazon for control over the top box area of the house for entertainment. Nintendo will show great games but Microsoft and Sony will be showing games and consoles no doubt.

Are these Nintendo directs going to gather any media attention? If so which outlets will cover them, and also which outlets do you feel won't be covering them that they need to remain relevant ?

The news tends to show off the first unveiling of the product, but after that they have the president of each company come on and talk about their product on CNN or on financial news. Console launches are pretty big business and Nintendo went through it last year no more than thirty-plus minutes. This E3 I think they'll have one hour long conference or two split conferences. Either way Nintendo's always been at hit or miss company at E3 and either reach the brass ring or they completely drop the ball. If there is truly big news like something going on with AT&T or a known provider it will probably get headlines but E3 is. E3 is basically to videogames as the Superbowl is to American Football.

CNN Top 5 best E3 moments of 2012.

CNN Halo 4 boosts crowd anticipation:

Theres more, so look it up. The wider media go to E3 as well and report on it because it is BIG NEWS.

Are we to assume that this or these Nintendo directs will not be infused into cable network airings of E3?

Nintendo Direct has nothing to do with the larger scale of E3, its just a Youtube conference. I wouldnt be surprised in the majority of people who watched E3 missed out on Nintendo Direct last year. This year E3 is going to be Sony and Microsoft on Spike TV exclusively instead of sharing the air converage on national television vs G4 which finally died off because of lack of proper content for the channel and ratings.

Me personally I think Nintendo has been planning this for some time now. Cut down on the huge expenses of holding an event. Create a simple video that displays the games, concepts, videos etc etc at a much cheaper price. All Nintendo products get the stream anyway. Major networks will take this Nintendo direct video and cut it into their broadcast giving them the "media" coverage that stage thinks they won't get. Plus yes it will be on YouTube and covered by all website and paper(news) outlets that report on stuff like this. These Nintendo directs are a much more personal level of showing their products.

Thats the problem....its personal. The when the Wii was unveiled, it wasn't personal. Nintendo Direct is a conference between Nintendo and their existing fans. If Nintendo is smart they'll buy a slot on Youtubes front page to try and get peoples attention. Youtube can make you big but its risky. Sony has done better on Youtube than Nintendo and I don't even believe that is enough.

Not too mention, if this direct is indeed a beast of a showing with multiple high profile 1st party games, maybe a few exclusive 3rd party titles plus they have the3ds, which is pounding the vita right now, with a ton of games coming soon and it's ssuccessful in getting all this coverage what would that mean?

The 3DS was never my issue. Nintendo's true moneymaker has always been their handhelds. The lesson you must learn is that the 3DS launched slowly just like the Wii U, but the content came out quicker for the 3DS and the price cut happened very soon. Will Nintendo do the same for the Wii U? We'll see but the Wii U's offerings just are not cutting it. Sony didn't even show off all of their guns at their unveiling, be prepared for E3 because as you know they wanted Microsoft to launch their console first so they could retaliate immediately after. Microsoft stays silent until Sony made a move so they can be the one to retaliate to them. Sony wasn't dumb...they werent going to show everything until E3. I believe them after their conference that they will have a huge lineup of games for their launch which Nintendo didnt have anything close to.

Seems to me you are just trying to push more negative spin on something with so many variables we don't yet know. Then again maybe you just don't like Nintendo and are one of those people that just like to get rise from others.

You really believe what you're saying don't you? Even Nintendo fans are questioning Nintendos actions. Gaming news is as well, look it up and most are not exactly positive. Some are rationalizing it. Nintendo having private meetings with the press and Nintendo Directs in my eyes is ducking and running because this E3 for Nintendo will truly in expectation David vs not one but two goliaths. Iwata's decisions are not helping anything.

I guess what I'm saying is if a video feed is linked to or sent to cnn( the media outlet you used) why all of a sudden will they not create news articles about it? Just because it's a Nintendo direct all of sudden it won't be news to cover? Plus Nintendo will be on site showing their games. Not to mention the average CNN viewer compared to say MTV or g4 viewer could probably care less about e3. That sort of crowd are more into Boston bombing or that jack ass Donald trump claiming Barack Obama isn't an American for the 50th time. Also who goes to CNN , cspan, msnbc etc for videogame news? People should know where to go for videogame info.

according to your theories Only YouTube will have info about the Nintendo direct?

Nintendo will brief the media themselves in a private meeting and then address Nintendo owners via Nintendo Direct and not the broader audience through the main conference. Chances are high that Nintendo Direct will not be covered on National Television by spike just like it wasnt covered last year.

The average CNN viewer doesnt care about E3? I guess you didnt see the responses from the people reading the post E3 articles from reporters from the press who attended. CNN is news coverage period. The problem with the average persons understanding of news is something bad must happen to be news. Well guess what, it doesnt always have to.

According to my theories will Youtube have major exposure from Nintendo Direct? Well no. History has shown that everytime Nintendo has a Nintendo direct its always headlining a gaming website. Thats the problem, its only gaming websites.
