He did. He demonstrated that the Iwata w/Bananas clip outpaced any individual clip from Nintendo's E3 2011, or how well the presentation of X did. You've demonstrated only that Sony knows naming a video after a console that everyone knew was coming is a good way to get hits (and it is quite smart on their part, both the naming conventions and the naming of that video specifically) |
I've also stated that Sony has reached a larger amount of people. Their internet campaign for gamers is more impressive and more gamers look at their site than Microsoft and Nintendo, I would dare say combined. This might be a good gen for Sony from a hardcore perspective, but E3 much like their press conference will weigh on the major press at large that people will see. Even they cannot always depend on Youtube despite that extremely high twenty-eight million views. Nintendo never got this kind of press with the Wii U and actually got challenged by CNN about being underpowered, but actually got a lot of confusion and rejection from casuals. Nintendo Directs will not help this. Nintendo did a Nintendo Direct and an E3 showcase last year, so why can't they do that again this year? Direct for the core, E3 for the core, media and everyone else. Nintendo Direct speaks to the steadily beating heart of the Nintendo faithful and I'll say it a thousand times because that is the truth. This is where I 110% agree with Adam Sessler. They are locking themselves in a room with the press and a niche crowd of their biggest fans when everything that had to do with their success last gen was a complete 180. I get it that the PS4 and 720 show will definitely overshadow theirs by a large margin but good lord why go into hiding?
