Eh, this way the Shipping Community (TM) gets to have their ideal pairings, and everyone (but the completionists) get to go home happy. As it is, if everyone was limited to just a few options it'd be fairly easy to miss a character or two. As it is, Sumia only has four options herself, one of whom is Chrom, so if you marry off her bachelors it's quite easy to miss out on Cynthia entirely.
