Ang and Zuko being almost mirror images of each other was great I agree. They are both born into legacies that they both rebel against and they both have to accept their legacy but also take control of their own destiny and find their own path. The way they play off each other is great as well. But what really elivates Zuko's arc tho is Iroh their relationship is what really makes it work, Iro is such a great character. I fully agree on the "love story" it really made me dislike Mako, feel sorry for Bolin and really wish that Asami would ditch that two timing duche as she deserves better, didn't do Korra any favours ether. Amon's story being told just before his end was a mistake I agree, he just started to become a really interesting. I reccon they could have developed him further. I guess it's possible that they could bring him back but that would feel cheap as well. Self contained arcs aren't neccesserily a bad thing if they are handled well, I hope that they will find their groove. The show at least looks great, tho some of the CGI stuff looks a bit off as it usually does when mixed with good 2D. |
Your 100% right, without Iro, Zuko's story doesn't work. But that's what makes Zuko's story so much more interesting. Zuko keeps on pushing his uncle away, keeps on going against him, acting like a spoiled child. Then to come back at the end in tears cause he realized how wrong he was, I ain't gonna lie, I was in tears too. Yeah bringin back Amon would be a huge cop out. I'm just glad they actually dealt with that tragedy though. It's not so much the self contained arcs are bad, it's just that with the legend of Ang it was such a huge emotional ride for almost 60 episodes. Korra was pretty much rushed and if they keep that pace up per book, it just can't give you that same level in character development. Like I could believe Korra and Mako more if they were given the time to redeem Mako, but they didn't. The art is amazing, I actually didn't think they'd continue Korra cause it looked really expensive.
