The Last Airbender is amazing a really great show. It's one of those great family stories that is enjoyable for all ages and doesn't talk down to the audience to much. The characters have actual depth and grow over the course of the series.

Sadly Korra doesn't quite match up so far. The conclusion (not the battle) of the first season was a total anticlimax, and felt like they chickened out and didn't really commit. The ensemble cast lacks the depth and variety of TLA, and I find Korra to be kinda annoying most of the time. The love polygon thing in the middle of the story feels poorly executed so far. At least there is Asami Sato and Amon was a great villain which saved it. I hope that the second season is better.

I agree about Korra, it was too short to go anywhere.  The love story was my biggest complaint, you don't do the crap that Mako does and then get the girl.  Even Korra, I mean, he screwed over his ex and you're going to take him?  WTF?  Amon was a great villain, but his history was too shortly told.  The second season is the first season.  Each season is going to be broken up into 2 books each.  So the next 12 episodes is going to be Book 2: Spirit.  But I don't think it can get much better since each book is going to be self contained like the first 12 episodes were.  There just isn't time to do more.  Plus Air Bender is as good as it is because of Zuko's tale.  Zuko was Ang's counter part, and he was the show's support pillar.  Zuko's character development is actually greater than Ang's so to see both their tales come together... I was in awe.  Korra just doesn't have that and most likely never will.

Ang and Zuko being almost mirror images of each other was great I agree. They are both born into legacies that they both rebel against and they both have to accept their legacy but also take control of their own destiny and find their own path. The way they play off each other is great as well. But what really elivates Zuko's arc tho is Iroh their relationship is what really makes it work, Iro is such a great character.

I fully agree on the "love story" it really made me dislike Mako, feel sorry for Bolin and really wish that Asami would ditch that two timing duche as she deserves better, didn't do Korra any favours ether. Amon's story being told just before his end was a mistake I agree, he just started to become a really interesting. I reccon they could have developed him further. I guess it's possible that they could bring him back but that would feel cheap as well. Self contained arcs aren't neccesserily a bad thing if they are handled well, I hope that they will find their groove. The show at least looks great, tho some of the CGI stuff looks a bit off as it usually does when mixed with good 2D.
