I like a good mix of both. For established franchises I like to see them stick to there universe, and play mechanics with improvements on each iteration. When devs or publishers try to branch out a franchise (card, kart, shooter-> Hack and slash, ect.) I loose interest.
If they want to try a new style of game, make a new franchise, develop a world around that gameplay that makes since. It should be these new franchises that bring unseen new gameplay, and story telling elements to the next gen.
There will always be a place for traditional generic side scrollers, fps, rpgs, and adventure games, as long as they have good atmosphere, and a good plot.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
