Too expensive.

Nintendo would be better off just financing indie devs and grabbing 10-12 exclusive smaller indie games. It would help fill in gaps for release droughts too. And the games would probably be more unique.

They should however get over their ridiculous bias against Western devs and at least work with some Western studios on exclusive projects. They work with devs like Platinum, Treasure (Sin & Punishment), Mistwalker (Last Story), but have cut off all ties to Western devs other than letting a few of them work on things like Luigi's Mansion (existing Nintendo IP).

It's time Nintendo picked 2-3 Western studios and let them make original games specific for the 3DS/Wii U. It's actually really a stinging indicment against Iwata that this hasn't already taken place. The Wii U right from the moment the first dev kits were sent out 2 years ago should've had a Nintendo-financed AAA Western show case title fast tracked for development (something on the scale of a Halo or Zelda game).

Rumours are saying thar Shin'en is working on F-Zero or atleast a racing game for Wii u. wouldn't mind it at all.

This is part of Nintendo's problem, Western devs to them are basically only good for working on franchises they're too busy to handle themselves.

Nintendo doesn't understand the concept of new IPs, honestly, lol. Let these developers work on something new, maybe (just maybe) one of them will make the next Minecraft or Angry Birds or Plants Vs. Zombies.

That's the point of embracing indie development is that hopefully you can find interesting new ideas you wouldn't otherwise. Not to have them take on 20 year old franchises. EAD can make an F-Zero game just fine.
