I dunno they hit the panic button on the 3DS pretty darn quick, and that was selling better than the Wii U without the benefit of a new Mario game.

the difference is.... 3ds was selling for profit turned to selling for a loss... but wiiu is already in that situation, thats why they launch it with mario
