In the end to me, all that it matters is the game is good, boring or not, lots of highbudget games nowadays bore me, because there is a lose of focus, they tend to want to do everything and pack a lot of things while not mastering any one thing. for example almost every high budget game recently had an 200+ person team, and they had orchestras and "AMAZING" graphics, but they're very boring and doesn't master anything they're doing. |
That's not the case with Nintendo, I don't believe they're the type of company to let their dev resources get diluted into a loss of focus (after all its the same leadership: Miyamoto, but with more manpower), so maybe you just prefer the game design of 3DLand to Galaxy. One thing to me is certain is that they have the same focus, just that one has more backing (galaxy).
All in all, 3DLand was made relatively quickly with less man-power, so imho I believe a greater Mario is not an impossibility. Though I would be totally happy just playing it on Wii U if need be.
