I'm trying to figure out how the hell it's going to cost that much. Remember, the 360, the first ever HD console, released a year before the PS3, launched at a mere $299-$399 price point, with the only difference between the two SKUs being a lack of HDD for the cheaper model.
The Next Box isn't going to contain any bleeding-edge technology (as far as we know)... it's got a CPU and GPU that's standard for today's technology, Blu-Ray isn't the mad-expensive technology it was back when PS3 launched, it's not including the more expensive RAM like the PS4 is, and memory / HDDs are dirt-cheap these days. So I'm trying to figure out how the hell the Next Box could possibly cost more than $400 on the high end, especially when the PS4 has been pegged around that price point.
So let's see... according to the rumors circulating around the interwebs, the Next Box...
1: Has hardware / architecture inferior to that of PS4 and is more difficult for 3rd parties to develop for, as noted by several "anonymous" inside industry sources.
2: Will require an always-on internet connection to function.
3: Will not be able to play "used" games, or will only allow one console per copy of a game, which ties in with #2.
4: Will also be integrated with Kinect, which may be required for many of its features.
5: Will launch at $500.
Is there anyone out there who does not think that this reads like a Sony fan's wet dream?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
