Directly supporting WiiU defeats the point of developing UE4 for higher end systems, leading me back to my point that they have, and still support, UE3 for that very reason, for mid range PC, PS3, 360 and now, WiiU.

I have to say that everything you have written in this thread has been very interesting and informative. I would like to just be clear on one point. If a developer wants to make a game across all 3 platforms would they:

a) Use UE4 to make it for PS4 and Nextbox, then port assets to UE3 for Wii U?

b) Use UE3 for all three?

c) Use UE4 for all three?

d) Use an entirely different engine?

I would be interested to see how all these choices would rank from a developer perspective.

They would go with A, importing assets to UE3 then recompiling kismet to support it and adjusting shaders, takes less time and money than porting an entire engine.

But given they can downscale UE4 for Wii U, wouldn't doing that take less time then just importing UE4 assests to UE3? It came out the next day that UE4 could be used on almost any system including the Wii U or some mobile devices if downscaled.

The only way I would think they'd use UE3 is if they are doing the same model that many publishers did with the Wii, having the Wii U versions be done by a completely different team with a smaller budget built soley for the hardware.
