Obviously the first thing a sensible person would do if it appeared like people were talking to themselves would be to press that button - only after that would a sensible person need to request medical attention. Not sure it would really work here though because there's a small group of hardcore regular posters who seem to get in every single thread without fail, kinda ironic as they normally are the ones who'd be on my ignore list and are full of fail. Pressing a button to see what these people have to say then having to read it as well would just add insult to injury. So yes, as you say and as I'm thinking whilst typing this I have come to the conclusion it's not a good idea. |
I actually like this implementation on YouTube. Any time a comment has been hidden there I can count on it being so stupid that it borders on genius, so the "This comment has been hidden" message is a good way to advertise these great comments and it's always worth the extra effort to click on them. The extra bit of anticipation even adds to the experience. It's kind of like opening a fortune cookie that's going to call you a faggot or advocate the extermination of your people.
But yeah, with no way to rate comments up or down here plus a small user base (VGChartz is doomed) and moderation... there's no real point.
