If you got angry at Nintendo for not making Wii U UE4/Frostbite 3 capable it may be good to read this article.

With the subject of this thread I’m referring to this:

When Nintendo doesn’t get third party support: ‘’Nintendo is once again falling behind and I’m not buying their console because it doesn’t support third party multiplatform games.’’

When Nintendo gets third party support: ‘’Not interested. I can get those games on my Playstation/Xbox/PC anyway with better performance and graphics.’’

I remember when Nintendo tried to follow in Sony’s footsteps by convincing third parties to port their games to Nintendo consoles. It was called the Gamecube, Nintendo’s biggest flop in terms of sales (especially third party). We all know Nintendo has been third party supportive with NES and SNES, but that was because they got no direct competition. Since the N64 Nintendo has had difficulty to gain third party games to their consoles for no apparent reason. I personally am thrilled to know why third party doesn’t take Nintendo that serious, but it has been that way for many years and it’s time to accept that. My only theory is that Nintendo looks different at games then most third parties; making games fun and memorable. Especially western developers are therefore the direct competition for Nintendo, because they focus on power and performance. There isn’t any other company out their like Nintendo.

You can’t be angry at Nintendo for not trying to get multiplatform games on Wii U. Why would they in the first place looking back at the performance of the Gamecube. The Gamecube was the most powerful console at the time, yet it failed. I think it is better for Nintendo to differentiate themselves even more from the competition than they are now. Nintendo shouldn’t be trying to be like Sony/Microsoft. We already got a PC/Playstation/Xbox for those types of games. Why do you want a third another exactly the same console?

With my current observations, I can conclude Nintendo is already taking another route than the real ‘hardcore-gamer’ is expecting from them ‘’getting back hardcore-gamers’’. Nintendo pissed of gamers by getting Bayonetta 2 Wii U exclusive. Nintendo has Monster Hunter, it has Dragon Quest, it pays for Lego City, W101, SMTxFE exclusivity. Look at the games-list of 3DS. There are so many exclusives, and that’s why it’s selling so good. Nintendo isn’t waiting for third party to support them, they’re working out deals so that they make Nintendo-exclusives appealing to the Nintendo audience. This may only be the beginning referring to Iwata’s statement:

"Our first party software alone can't be enough to appeal to the different tastes of all game fans. The decision of Nintendo that it will publish the two software titles from Platinum Games is one answer to this challenge." - Nintendo global president, Satoru Iwata

I think we’ll be amazed by the amount of unique games coming to Wii U and already available on 3DS. Who knows what other companies are working on behind closed doors in cooperation with Nintendo. If you’re a true gamer and want to experience all types of games, you won’t be ready for next-gen with a Wii U alone, but also not with a PC/PS4/Xbox 3 alone. This is just something we cannot change.

There were plenty of reasons why N64 didn't get any 3rd party support.

They treated 3rd parties like crap in the NES/SNES days. They got away with it because Nintendo was always dominant back then.

They went with cartridges over CDs.

And they were competing with the Playstation.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
