The potential happenings of next gen or the gen after that doesn't mean anything for this gen. It doesn't change what a success this gen was for MS.

ok ok i get your point, microsoft have put billions into two consoles and have over two gens are still in 3rd place, but with a much bigger chunk in the market share.....enough of a chunk to make back profits?? who knows but id use the word success loosely
