I never played one before but playing DoR right now. Brilliant game, but I like Fire Emblem more. I really had to get used to the non-permanent-death system and the more Command & Conquer type of game.
But nonetheless it's a lot of fun and, as to be expected from Intelligent Systems, very well balanced with a good story.
Do try Fire Emblem though if you like the AW series!
