A lot of them won't pay $0 for a console next generation because they have no need for one. I hate to sound blunt but I think this is the actual reality. 

If Nintendo is going to sit there and wait for these people to come back to play Wii Fit and Sports and Mario again, they are going to be in for a rude awakening. 

Not all of them are going to update, but some will once it becomes cheap and has games like Mario Kart. Casuals will be a minority of Wii U's userbase, but they will be present nonetheless.
