The PS2 library was 98% utter garbage from the start of its lifecycle until the very end.
And you have that completely backwards: the beginning of a console's lifecycle is typically when it gets the worst games.

Yes, shovelware does scare third parties because it eats up so much shelf space at stores. Casual games don't know any better then to buy what seems like a good game. I like the post, I think it took a lot of issues to heart without being an anti-nintendo attack. People need to understand, Nintendo is a multi billion dollar cooperation, just like sony, just like MS. It's our job as gamers to voice our concerns. If we don't then we see missteps like the n64 and ps3 (I'm not saying either are "bad" systems, but from a marketing standpoint, certainly a letdown). I think everyone should voice their opinion. Not everyone will agree with his view and that's fine. But there is no need for any personal attacks. |
The TC is nothing but one long, slightly stealthy troll, and the title "Did Nintendo screw us?" should emphasize just how much of a troll attempt this is.
Nintendo is using the EXACT same strategy which netted Sony 1st place in the console war last gen: throw open your doors and let all the developers in.
And yes, you wind up with a lot of crap, but you also wind up with all of the best exclusives because you sell the most consoles because you have the biggest library.
Nintendo didn't screw anyone.
"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
