I think that might be what I have found here. Because of pressing stuff, I can get the point of a story driven game by ending up and seeing the ending an seeing other things. Idea is to have little need to get into it, and save money. I would contrast that with tabletop game stuff, where watching a good playthrough would end up increasing my interest in it. Minecraft, on the videogame side, also fit into this. |
For me the ending only matters because of the experience getting there. The journey as a whole is what's important not the last 10%. This is especially true for video games because they are meant to be actively experienced not passively observed. When I don't have the extra cash to get a new game I just write it down on my backlog list and get to it when I do eventually get it. Watching a youtube video of game is like reading sparknotes instead of the actual book. Or reading the synopsis of a movie instead of watching it. I can tell you that Star Wars is a lot better as a movie than a Wikipedia article and playing Halo 4 is a lot more exciting than watching the cut-scenes on youtube.
With that said if you have so little interest in the game beyond seeing how it ends I can't fault you for not bothering to play it. But you should take personal note that you're interest in the game part of games may not be what it used to. If you're more interested in games than you're making it sound and you really just want to save a few bucks you should do what I do. Keep track of what you want to play and get it sometimes years later used for super cheap.
