Few points:
1) 360 failure rate is notably higher than ps3 failure rate
2) Extended warranty was given after a few years and wasn't always available - during the worst (highest failure rate) period of the 360, the 3 year warranty didn't exist, and by the time it had come in effect, most of the people with dead consoles had long since bought new ones.
3) people comparing overall sales and software attach rates for consoles released a year apart need their heads examining.

360 has been a more SUCCESSFUL console (profits, market share, public opinion)
ps3 has been a better selling console (sold roughly the same amount in a year less on sale)

Contest that all you want, that's just how things are.

Again, people comparing attach rates and total sales need their heads examining, would comparing a year old consoles sales and software attach rate, to a console that has just been released be accurate?, no, because that time difference effects the result, it's comparing apples to oranges, and people need to stop doing it.
