Unity is multiplatform and cross platform , when you make a game it will work on any platform, even on a browser, which is why Unity is seriously one of the best things to happen to gaming recently, it puts the high end engines to shame, plus its actually looks good , really good.

Err I wouldn't go that far. But I agree, its awesome.

because its free without any crappy royality afterwards (like Unreal Engine UDK where you have to pay after publishing)  , and is also cross platform unlike most programs, so even if you buy the pro version you're going to use it on everything (if you include the addons) for a long time , and in a matter of fact its cheap $1500 --> $6000 (max) compared to the ridicilous other high end engines.

the difference between free and pro version is that the free version will show a logo of unity while starting the game or a watermark of unity on a browser based game, and to be honest the logo is kind of cool so , even if you have the pro version you shouldn't disable it. (this)

Besides its a pretty good looking program, unlike Unreal Engine (yes I dislike that engine with a passion of a thousand suns)
