The gamecube and the Wii (mostly the Wii) pretty much are to blame for this problem. The Wii honestly made nintendo fans look like a bunch of 8 year old in the eyes of casual gamers, if that makes sense. Basically, with all of the sholveware and kid/family friendly, most people did not see the actual hardcore games that were released on the Wii and there were quite a few. Oddly enough, they sold like crap (MadWorld, Conduit, Xenoblade, The last Story, Red Steel, etc) That's my honest opinion and I own a black Wii which I bought exclusively for Xenoblade and the last Story.
