Is there actually any argument for a turnaround. That doesn't start with the logic that says everyone wants to play Nintendo first party games. The problem I have with that logic is this. While both Microsoft and Sony have their own answers to those games. What Nintendo doesn't have an answer for is the great third party games those manufacturers get. This is why Nintendo was slipping before the Wii, and it is why Nintendo should have continued to slip as far as the core is concerned.

No, they don't.

Sony and MS have no adequate answer to Mario Kart, (LBP racing and Modnation couldn't even reach 10% of MKWii's sales) Smash Bros, (Playstation Allstars tried and failed) 3D Mario, or Zelda.

As for Wiis all sitting abandoned and gathering dust, software sales contradict this theory.

And the claim that Nintendo "neglected, insulted, and betrayed their long time core players. Nintendo effectively showed those gamers the door, and told them that they had been replaced." That's false. They continued to release plenty of core titles like Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Smash Bros, Metroid Prime 3 and Other M, Zelda Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mario Kart,* New Super Mario Bros,* Kirby's Epic Yarn,* Kirby's Return to Dreamland,* Punch-Out...

*These games may have casual appeal, but they are core to long term Nintendo gamers.
