How have your video game systems broken?

I was reading another thread, and people seem to have broken various systems in one way or another. A lot of people have had a RRoD or YLoD on their 360/PS3, but I just want to know how reliable have older systems been.

Please mention all the systems you've owned (broken or not) and explain how they broke and after how long you had them. I want to get an idea of how reliable consoles actually are.

For me:

I've owned NES, GB, SNES, Super Gameboy, Genesis, Sega CD, PS1, N64, GB Pocket, GBC, Dreamcast, GBA, PS2, GCN, GB Player, DS, PSP, 360, PS3, Wii.

Out of those I've only had Sony and Microsoft Products break, and never a Nintendo or Sega product.

My PS1 broke because the ball bearing responsible for spinning the disk came loose and flew out everywhere. They wouldn't stay when put back in. This broke 5 years after I owned the system (Replaced with a PS2)

MY PS2 broke when the laser started to go out of allignment. After 6 years, it would only play some games (like Front Mission 4), and after 8 years it stopped working alltogether. By this point I already owned a PS3, but I still replaced my PS2 last year (11 years after I bought my original PS2).

My PS3 YLoD'd, I bought it in 2008, and I had it for 3 years I think.

All Sony's were first gen system though.

I bought my first 360 in January 2007 with an extended warrenty, it lasted about a year and a half, then RRoD'd and was replaced by Microsoft (since they also extended their warrenty. I didn't want MS to fix it because Best Buy would offer me a new HDMI model, where MS would give me a rebuilt first gen model, but with RRoD I had no choice. MS shipped a "new" 360 to me within a couple weeks, but the "new" model was also broken. It wouldn't go online, and it wouldn't play games with DLC. So my second 360 had a life span of 2 weeks (I knew it was a used model because it had marks on it). So I b****ed at MS, and got them to send me a new first gen model. My third 360 lasted about a year and a half. It never RRoD's, but It started to freeze a lot (something systems do before they RRoD) and my warrenty was ending. I had to ship it off with Best Buy 2 or 3 times, and the last time I just b****ed at them and one nice guy on the floor gave me a new 360. It was an arcade model (No Hard Drive) and MS was selling them for $150 because the Slim just came out, but still. I forgot my controller, so I got a free controller out of all this. I've had that HDMI model for 3 years now, it still works, but sometimes it takes forever loading up. I'm worried the next XBL Update will kill it.

The moral of the story. Never buy first gen Sony or Microsoft products. Especially not Microsoft products.
