| BenVTrigger said: It seems like every thread I go into all I see are people arguing or discussing exclusives. Which ones look the best, play the best, or sell the most. It seems like multiplatform games are almost completely ignored here at time's or at least never have near as much hype. It has become a common saying on here how Xbox has no games. That is so far from the truth it's unbelievable. You could never buy an exclusive game for the Xbox and still have a fantastic library of titles. Not to mention exclusives generally aren't even the best selling titles on a console. I'm down with discussing exclusive titles but it seems like great games aren't getting discussed a lot of the time due to silly console war battles. |
Exclusives set consoles apart. They are the calling card of the console maker trying to show create franchises that are synonymous with their console. Nintendo started it, Sega followed, Sony follow and now its Microsoft. We all know who has more and who has less. When someone says console A has no games compared to console B or C it means exclusives are not being provided, they dont need to go to another console too attain a multiplat, therefore boasting about it isnt an issue. Without exclusives a console is just a shell unless you're not really into games. They are multimedia hubs now. Multiplats can be played anywhere they are available so its not an incentive to choose one console over another unless you're wholly nitpicky.
Without exclusives there might as well only be one console. Also, exclusives are more popular than theyve been in years and have been very competitive with multiplats and even setting standards for multiplats with console makers budgets competing for dominance even against third parties.
