In what gen has Nintendo been more innovative?

Man this is really tough. Choosing between the third and seventh generations is not easy at all.

The seventh generation gave us Wii, one of the best-selling and most revolutionary consoles, and the DS, which will probably finish as the most popular video game system of all time. We got inventive titles like Wii Sports, Brain Age, Nintendogs, plus innovations in motion control and touch screen technology.

But I think I have to give a slight edge to the third generation. The NES saved the video game industry. Its controller popularized the D-pad, which has become standard on all systems. And it supported three of the most groundbreaking and influential games of all time: Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid.
